My Story

Peace to all,
In 2008 our family was doing great. Between my part time work at my gift shop and our familys construction business. We grossed over a half million dollars that year. Well by 2014 we had to file bankruptcy. Our home was lost to foreclosure and sold at the Sharif sale for around $24,000.00. I know you are asking yourself how could this happen

In February of 2011 I joined Scentsy after being asked for two years by my cousin. My plan was to just make a few gift sets with Scentsy for holidays etc. On July 11th 2011 I received a call from one of my husbands employees. My husband was inside a garage on the job site and a tree in the yards next door broke in half and fell on the garage. He suffered a spinal cord injury and was electrocuted by downed power lines. He could only move his fingers and toes. He had to learn how to feed and dress himself and walk again. He underwent spinal cord surgery, prostate, heart surgery and had rehab after each hospital stay. He was in the hospital or rehab for nine months out of an 18 month period. The doctor bills were overwhelming. I took over the day to day responsibilities of running our construction business. His employees did the labor and I took care of the paperwork, met with the home owners etc.

By 2013 we knew we could never pay all of the debts we owed. My husband working with our construction business was our main source of income. Hospital bills, bad accounting advice also being underwater on our home. We had no construction work to be done for the city. We had to file for bankruptcy.

Well in January 2014 after the Sharif sale we had a family meeting. We only had 6 months to come up with $25,000.00 dollars to redeem our familys home. Mind you we had put a down payment of $40.000.00 and had paid over $100.000.00 in mortgage payments since 2001. God blessed us to get two construction jobs from the city. My son did the construction work along with our subcontractors. We only had one supplier that we had worked with for years that would give us credit. We had no other credit cards at this point because of the bankruptcy.

So this is when I took $3,000.00 out of my Roth IRA and Sung for the fence. I invested it in Scentsy. I did every event that I could find. The money I made I put some back into Scentsy products and some into keeping my household bills paid and buying materials to get the city work done. In five months the jobs were finished and we were paid. I went and redeemed our home.

I worked very hard those months but on my terms. I still had to take care of my husband and home during this time. Scentsy helped us save our home and I will be forever grateful for the wonderful products that Scentsy makes for us to offer to our customers. You can join #TheScentsyLife and work on your Dream Big plan for your life. I thank God every day for our home and this wonderful company called Scentsy.

Peace, Lorena
